Mentoring

Mentoring

At Pembroke Tutors, we are committed to providing families with the right kind of educational support. Sometimes, this takes the form of an academic mentor. A mentor is someone who can share knowledge, experience and advice with their mentee. Often mentors will focus specifically on skill development, for example working with their mentee to develop their writing skills, rather than working through a particular curriculum.

With the ever-increasing demands placed on pupils and young adults, there is a need to remain calm and confident when considering their academic studies and personal development. Our mentoring programmes enable children and young adults to surpass their current expectations and enable them to reach their full potential.

Every mentoring programme is entirely bespoke and tailored to each pupil’s needs. Pembroke Tutors has seen particular success with some of the following mentorship programmes:

Writing Mentorship

One of our experienced tutors worked with a high achieving pupil moving to the UK from the US. Though the pupil was a gifted writer, they lacked the confidence to articulate their ideas as clearly as they would like. Over the course of a year, they worked with their tutor through formal tutorials as well as ongoing written feedback to develop not only their writing skills but also their confidence. The pupil went on to secure a scholarship at their preferred school and continued to work with their mentor throughout secondary school.

Public Speaking

An adult learner wanted assistance with their public speaking skills before conducting an important presentation for their work at an upcoming conference. They arranged for a short, intensive course with a public speaking mentor who worked with them to improve their diction, stage presence and overall confidence.

Our success is rooted in working with a small group of expert mentors. Our mentors are inspiring and passionate individuals who empower their tutees in all elements of their education and learning.

After discussing your mentoring requirements, we will match a mentor with your child’s mentoring needs as well as their personality. We believe that for mentoring to be successful, it is vital that the tutor not only has an excellent academic record but also can be a positive role model for your child/ren.
